Christopher Lee PlummerWe are currently showing the works of Christopher Lee Plummer. Chris is recognized as an expert in the interior design field for his knowledge of the historical context and period appropriateness of patterns and shapes used in architectural metalwork and architecture/design in general. He has taken his grounding as a fine artist to practical effect, inventing new finishes and new ways to use traditional and exotic materials to achieve effect. However, his fine art work, although greatly influential, is not so well known.

The artwork we have in this exhibition reflects work in several different mediums, with the obvious common thread of metal. From collages of painted decorative metal like Red Blooded American to softly melted and shaped zinc “paintings” (in which the “paintbrush” is actually an acetylene torch) to sheets of steel with patina, Chris’s work humanizes the masculine toughness of metal in all its uses. His body of work, with nods along the way to the modernists, abstract expressionists, and neo-dadaists, is firmly grounded in all the history of artists decorating with metal. From the Victorian-era designers using tin to add permanence to their romantic Classical designs, to the Art Deco futuristic possibilities of steel, decorative metal has always been a go-to for artists wanting to transport their audience outside the everyday expectations of life. Chris continues that tradition.

Some of the works shown have already been sold. Others are available. Please contact us through the contact page with inquiries.
